The role of an online reviewer has become increasingly important in recent years. With the rise of review sites such as Yelp and TripAdvisor, it is more important than ever that people know what they are getting into before they book a hotel or reserve a restaurant. Since there are many responsibilities for an online reviewer, we have compiled eight to help you get started on your journey.

Provide a detailed and unbiased review of the [business] you are reviewing. Do not solicit or accept any form of compensation in exchange for your reviews. Be respectful of other reviewers and their opinions, but don’t be afraid to disagree with them either, it is important that people have different perspectives on what they think about certain businesses.

Stay up to date on new developments within your industry by reading magazines, blogs and attending conferences. This will help inform future content produced, as well as provide necessary information when writing reviews or features related to these topics. Include quality photographs with each review you post online for others who may want more visual evidence before deciding where to spend.
