The Plot Of “Dune: Part Two”
In the years following the events of Dune Messiah, the Harkonnens become at odds with House Atreides. Paul Atreides has grown into a fierce leader and leads his army in battle against the Harkonnen forces when they launch a strike on Arrakis. He is betrayed by his own mother, Lady Jessica, and is forced to flee into the desert where he encounters his father, Duke Leto. Leto explains that thousands of Fremen are still on Arrakis and have been attacked by forces from House Harkonnen.
Background Of This Movie
The idea for the Dune film was based on a project by Alejandro Jodorowsky, who had approached artist H. R. Giger to design a film adaptation in 1976, but the project never materialized. Herbert wrote a new novel that was intended as a direct sequel to Dune, titled Dune Messiah (which instead became the second novel of the original series). It was initially rejected by publishers, who told Herbert that science fiction novels could not sell well. After the success of the first book, Herbert’s agent encouraged him to rewrite it as a standalone novel and remove some of its elements, including some of its religious content and extraneous characters.
